Shoreline of Infinity
Science Fiction magazine
We are looking for short stories up to 7,000 words.
We are looking for a good science fiction story. Something that gives reality a tweak on the nose, an idea that makes us stop and think.
Broaden our horizons – look beyond the Shoreline.
Full details on the Submission Page.
An international outlook - what we are looking for in this call
Shoreline of Infinity is based in Scotland, traditionally a country that is welcoming to everyone. We are no different here at Shoreline of Infinity HQ.
For this call we are emphasising our ongoing search for stories from around the world, from different cultures, different viewpoints — perspectives that are new to us.
Wherever you are on this planet (or elsewhere? we can hope), if you've got a stunning science fictional or speculative tale which pushes the imagination onwards and outwards, we want to see it. We want to welcome it, give it a place to be.
Maximum of 7,000 words. We only have space to publish one longer length story in each issue, so shorter stories have a greater chance of being published.
What we Offer and Rights
We offer £10/1000 word.
We retain the right to continue selling back issues of Shoreline of Infinity and Shoreline anthologies containing your story.
We buy first print, digital and audio world rights in English, but your rights are returned to you after 6 months of original publication (digital or print), and you are free to publish how or where ever you like. However, it would be splendid if you could acknowledge first publication in Shoreline of Infinity.
What to Submit
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please do tell us immediately if you want to withdraw a submission. Submit a neatly formatted manuscript using Times 12 point double-spaced in Word format (.doc docx). Please use the submission process here - emailed manuscripts will be ignored.
Submit only one story.
We will reply as soon as we can after your submission, but please do contact us if you have not heard within 3 months. We know what it's like to be kept waiting, but we are only human (mostly).
Please do read an issue or two first before submitting. This will give you an idea of the kind of story we are looking for, and it also supports the magazine, makes us feel good and that helps support the writers. Everyone is happy! The digital editions. are geat value, and best bought from our own website, www.shorelineofinfinity.com
